Roatan’s reef system is the world’s second-largest barrier reef, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, in the northern hemisphere. Roatan’s warmer water and gentle currents make for excellent year-round visibility, and is a lure for divers from all over the globe searching for natural adventure and pristine waters.

For the Eco and Green Diver, you can volunteer with the Roatan Institute of Marine Science, which is located on the Anthony Key Resort property, to help maintain the Coral nursery.

The island’s reefs and drop-offs are teeming with colorful marine life and are ideally suited for novices and experts alike. Anthony Key Resort is ideally located in the middle of the Bay Island National Marine Park (BINMP) encompassing more than 2,498 square miles of protected marine sanctuary. Each site is filled with everything from vibrant coral, massive sponges, peaceful eel gardens, schools of tropical fish, eagle rays, sea turtles, the occasional sharks, and dolphins, all conveniently located within a short boat ride from your bungalow.
